Narcism

This is my latest independent work. With this piece the goal was to step up everything I had been doing in my previous two pieces. The mediums used are still the same but the craftsmanship and quality turned out a lot better. This is my favorite of the three I have made so far and I especially like the red in the background and the layers that the silhouettes create. The fade in around the edges (done in Photoshop) really adds to the entire piece I think.

Reach

This was my second independent piece and was also done in the same way as the first. I used a couple different techniques to try and increase the craftsmenship and I also did not make this piece monocromatic. I really like this piece a lot and the concept behind it is also very meaningful.

Time

This was my first independent project. The process of creating this piece was a little bit different then my normal process. I first drew the entire piece using charcoal and soft pastel. Then I took a picture of it and imported it into Adobe Photoshop. I then used Photoshop to edit the picture and create layers and depth. I love the radial compostion and the entire piece in general. The craftsmenship was not perfect but overall I really like it.

Erasure Drawing

This was the first movement piece I completed during this semester. We had to create a composition and erase some part of it. Then we drew the image again. We repeated this process in order to create movement based off of faded images. Overall I was proud of this piece although I still feel it could have used a little bit more in the background.

Image Transfer Portrait

This piece was intended to convey scared or even terrifyed emotion. I used purples and blues in the background to keep it almost dull compared to the bright red I used to accent the face. The black is used all throughout the piece and in the background I added a simple image of a tree to keep it from feeling too empty.

Movement Piece

This piece was intended to show movement. I used charcoal originally to draw out the piece, then I ended up used acrillic paint and quick strokes to create movement. I also added color throughout the piece which I really feel adds a lot.

Weaving Project

This piece is actually two pieces put together using a weaving technique. The subject was the exact same ion each piece however in one piece I used black and white charcoal and in the other I used acrillic paint. After I finished both pieces I cut each one up and weaved them together, creating the finished product. Overall, this project was very annoying but I really do like the outcome. It definitely turned out a lot better than I though.
